It's not about software,hardware or the cheapest price; it's about highly trained ears and imagination, and the technical ability to realize those imaginative goals. If someone is helping you arrange and produce your songs, look for someone who places the artist and the song's best interests first; far too many songs and artists have been overwhelmed by over-production. Another critical aspect in the creative process is trust; you have to be comfortable with whom and where you're recording. When you've found the right creative team, then you can make some amazing and powerful recordings.
